INTRODUCTION TO TRACKING & TRAILING
Have you ever wanted to walk outside in the morning and read the local news straight from clues written in the landscape? Tracking is an innate art dwelling just under the surface of your being and readily retrieved with practice. Humans ARE trackers.
We will begin the day with a brief introduction to Woods Manners and Tracking Culture, then carpool to a nearby agricultural field and river bank, where there is beautiful substrate and a wide variety of animal activity to introduce you to the practice. You will discover firsthand who our non-human neighbors are while building a knowledge of their behaviors, learning to identify clues left through tracks and signs which lead to the recognition of each species’ interwoven stories.
Pack plenty of water, a lunch and binoculars. Dress in layers and have a protective sun hat as the field is rather exposed. Reading glasses are important for those of us who use them.
